Surgery has advanced so much with new technology; it has really become an art.  Somehow surgeons can perform surgery with leaving a scar a couple inches big.  Richard Satava says that the ability to bring together factors that are unrelated and put them together in creative ways.  This comes up during surgery when during a surgery something unplanned happens and you have to act on it quickly.   Surgery is important in keeping people alive, yet some people view surgery as a way to make themselves look perfect.   The advances in plastic surgery have made it so people can change everything about themselves.  In a sense they view themselves as artwork.   Although surgery is important to keep people alive, people use it to make themselves look perfect.  Technology is so far advanced there is even programs out there that you put in what surgery you want to get, and you see the outcome on your 3D replica of yourself (Greenberg).

Art is considered to be “something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings” (art).   Art and new inventions go hand in hand.  Thanks to technology, today, there are so many different opportunities for the blind to participate in everyday activities.  Shoes have been designed to replace canes, the blind are able to read books, but the most fascinating new piece of technology is a car for the blind.  These inventions are all brilliant pieces of art, each inventor combines their imagination and skills with the technological advances in this day in age.  Dennis Hong has begun to develop a car that the blind can actually drive.  He uses so many different sensors, cameras, and gadgets to put together this car for the blind.  The fact that he has developed a car that people who cannot see anything can drive is astonishing.  Although all the pieces of the car are technology, designing a car for the blind is an art itself.  It takes so much creativity because he has to come up with different ways for the blind to get information from. This car is an amazing step forward in science yet also an amazing piece of artwork.

When combined art and medicine create a perfect combination.  This week I have learned that those who are the most successful in their medical field would not be there without their use of art.

Industrialization has made it seem like nowadays that art without technology is nonexistent.  Computers have so many different programs to make art and photographs have seemed to replace artwork in houses.  Professor Vesna explains that there are some cases where art such as movies and shows, have influenced new technological advances.  Such things such as Samsung’s new phone, animation movies, and video games show this idea.    Although nobody seems to be inventing robots anytime soon, the “futuristic gadgets” seen in movies and shows have influenced scientists and inventors.  “Watch phones” have been in almost every futuristic movie out there.  The Samsung galaxy commercial explains how these movies and TV shows over the year have been an influence to their phone.   This watch phone is a huge step for technology.  Samsung is also trying to appeal to its viewers of how by buying this phone they are stepping into the future

 Walter Benjamin says, “The painter maintains in his work a natural distance from reality the cameraman penetrates deeply into its web.”  This is seen in all animation movies, they each show science and art together at its finest.   As Disney says animated films sometimes use over 50,000 different drawings (the animation process).  Each different piece of artwork is its own masterpiece.  Because of new technology that has come out producers are able to put these pieces of art into one to make it flow.  At Disneyland this is explained in their exhibit called animation kingdom.  The exhibit shows how different masterpieces of art are combined to flow together.  Although the production of movies is amazing, no animation movie would be successful without unbelievable artwork.  This idea also shows up when it comes to video games.  As this E:60 clip shows video games have gone from games like pong that are so simple to games like madden where the players look real.  This is because the designers are able to combine art and science perfectly.  In video games cases the art would be the play of the professional players. The designers are able to put signature moves the players make in real life, to the video game they are creating.  Video games nowadays are amazing works of art.

 I have learned that industrialization has made it so that pieces of art can now be actually produced.  Each of the examples I explained would not be possible without science and art.
